You get to know the stories behind fashion’s most influential images from the editors themselves. The film has a chapter for each editor where they share their personal story. The Gospel According to André
Interested in fashion icons? André Leon Talley, one of fashion’s great masterminds, shares his life. Talley is one of the many extravagant figures in the fashion industry, with his 6 ft height and glittering wardrobe. His story about making it in the fashion world as a black man is a very inspiring one. Having worked for Diana Vreeland, American Vogue and other well known publications Talley was a fashion maverick. With his impeccable memory André tells great stories about his life and how he became one of fashion’s biggest names. With interviews with big names from the industry and archive movies, his personal stories get told by filmmaker Kate Novack. Talley is such an interesting and captivating person that this film will most definitely inspire.

 

McQueen
Interested in fashion design? With the loads of designer documentaries out there, there is a lot to get inspired from. McQueen is a great documentary that focussed on both sides of the fashion design world, something that is important to show. The ups and downs of Lee Alexander McQueens life are shown through beautiful imagery and music. Interested in fashion photography? Testino is one of the fashion photographers who has been around in the fashion world for ages. The film revolves around the set up for his exhibition in The National Portrait Gallery in London in 2002. Testino’s story is told by himself with interviews of his colleagues from the fashion world. His personal story is told from the first time he started photographing to becoming one of the most successful fashion photographers. Big names like Anna Wintour discuss how Testino became the top fashion photographer for such a long time. We follow Testino all over the world from his home country Peru to photoshoots in Paris and London. For upcoming (fashion) photographers definitely a nice watch.

Interested in modeling? 90’s supermodel Christy Turlington takes you behind the curtains of the supermodel life. Dior and I
Interested in fashion brands? Raf Simons is one of the big names in the fashion design world. He has worked as creative director for his own brand Raf Simons, Jil Sander, Christian Dior and Calvin Klein. In this documentary you get a wonderful look into Simons his start at Dior. The film shows the time from his first day at dior up to the showing of his first collection for the brand. You get a very closed up view of his process in making collections. How he uses imagery and how he gets his inspiration. Also Big roles in the film are those of Pieter Mulier and the haute couture team at Dior. This documentary shows the amount of people. work and stress that is put in the Dior haute couture collections. And also a beautiful homage to all the staff at Dior that make Simons his dreams come true.
